Training Course Description
PPS Initial: This course provides participants with the knowledge, tools, and attitudes needed to assess their ability to serve in the role of a supportive peer for fellow professionals who are having difficulty coping with the stresses of life. At the completion of this 16-hour course, participants will be able to determine their readiness to serve as a pilot peer volunteer and efficiently assist their peers to regain optimal work performance and quality of life if they choose to serve in this capacity.
PPS Recurrent: This course enhances the knowledge, tools, and attitudes needed to continue to serve in the role of a supportive peer for fellow professionals who are having difficulty coping with the stresses of life. Recurrent PPS training includes a review of some of the skills and topics trained during initial PPS training. In addition to reviewing any current PPS trends or peer best practices, the recurrent training emphasizes enhancing the skills needed when interacting with a pilot calling into PPS, specifically critical thinking abilities, reinforcing listening skills, and utilizing resources.
